George Washington's Mount Vernon by Water Cruise
with Lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn

Experience the stately elegance of George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate & Gardens aboard the Miss Christin. Cruise the Potomac River aboard the Miss Christin from Old Town Alexandria to George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens, home of America's first President, George Washington.



Depart from Old Town Alexandria's city marina and travel south for a memorable tour of the stately and elegant Mount Vernon, the most popular historic estate in America. Cruise is narrated, and land tour is self-guided. Price includes admission fee to the estate; grounds and shops.

Cruise Highlights:

Departing Alexandria, view the Torpedo Factory, Admiral's Row, Jones Point Lighthouse and the exciting National Harbor development. Experience the natural sights and sounds along the way, as the Potomac winds through a hardwood forest and spectacular riverbanks. See the historic military Fort Washington on the Maryland side of the river, commanding an expansive view of the area. After Riverview Park, a favorite sunset spot, begin a breathtaking approach to the Mount Vernon waterfront, estate and grounds. (Comfortable shoes are recommended for the long walk up from the wharf up to the estate and gardens.) Beyond the estate, gardens, and museum, the self-guided tour includes George Washington's Tomb, an interpretive Pioneer Farm, Forest Trail and more. Admission for all included in your cruise fare.



Cruise Notes:

You may not bring beverages aboard the cruise. Freshly-popped popcorn, bottled water, beer, sodas and other beverages are available for purchase aboard the vessel.

Smoking is not allowed on public sightseeing tours.

The sailing schedule of the Miss Christin is subject to weather and river conditions.

George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens prohibits visitors from bringing picnics or food onto the grounds. Bottled water is acceptable.

Mount Vernon Estate and Gardens:



The centerpiece of a visit is seeing George Washington's home; an original building filled with 18th-century treasures, many of them owned by Washington. The Mansion house sits high above the Potomac River with a stunning view of the Maryland shore.

Forty-five acres of the estate are open to the public. A spectacular view of the Potomac River from the Mansion's piazza transports visitors back in time.
Four gardens showcase heirloom plants known to have been at Mount Vernon in the late 1700s. Washington himself designed the landscape which includes 13 trees that stand today as the last living witnesses of Washington's lifetime.

Lunch at the Mount Vernon Inn:

Lunch will be served at the Mount Vernon Inn. Experience the Mount Vernon Inn in the same way that George Washington did on his beloved Virginia plantation over two centuries ago.
